Systems Not Goals

In the book “How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big,” author Scott Adams unpacks the idea that having systems in place are more important than setting goals. He argues that in order be successful, the systems or processes put in place are what will determine the outcome. For example, if you want to be the best lacrosse player (your goal) then your physical & mental training, your diet & strength condition program (your system) are what is going to determine your outcome. It is the actual process to reaching your goal that will either lead to success or failure. Goal setting is important, but ultimately  be sure to create a system that will help make it happen because when you do you, your chances for success become much higher.
